The New Testament makes it clear we are living in the last days.

In these last days, He has spoken to us by His Son … (Heb 1:2)

Peter’s speech in Acts 2:14-22 makes it clear the prophet Joel’s prophesy about the last days was happening then and the epistle of 1 John says we are in the last hour:

Children, it is the last hour … (1 Jn 2:18)

We are living in the last days and every day that passes brings us closer to the return of Christ. I bring this up because of what Scripture tells us about humanity in the last days and how to react:

But know this: Difficult times will come in the last days. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people! (2 Tim 3:1-5)

The Bible makes it clear that humanity will spiral down further and further into sin, selfishness, and ungodly living. People will be lovers of self, first and foremost. We can get a glimpse of this through abortion. Millions of women choose to have their unborn child torn apart in the womb because the child is inconvenient and doesn’t fit into their plan. That is a great example of loving self. In the last days people will be lovers of money. That’s easy to see in the American culture now. The list of depravity in the last days, from now until the end, in the passage goes on and on ending with instruction to God’s people. AVOID these kinds of people!

As a believer, you should not be friends with any of these kinds of people and shouldn’t associate with them if you can avoid them.

Understand that bad company corrupts good morals and character (1 Cor 5:33).

Think about it

Do you know any people like what was described in the passage above?

Do you see why you should avoid people who have such ungodly attitudes or lifestyles?

Do you avoid them? Do you think you should?

Unbelievers are going to get worse. Keep your eyes open and keep your distance from these kinds of people.
