As a believer in Jesus Christ, you are blessed by God with great spiritual blessings. This next group of devotionals discusses what God has done for you to encourage you and help you appreciate Him more. Take your time and digest what God has done for you and praise Him.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places (Eph 1:3)

Let’s get started.

God has saved you from the penalty your sin deserves. You are saved and not condemned:

Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned … (Jn 3:18)

Therefore I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins. (Jn 8:24)

Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus … (Rom 8:1)

You love Him, though you have not seen Him. And though not seeing Him now, you believe in Him and rejoice with inexpressible and glorious joy, because you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (1 Pe 1:8)

For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift … (Eph 2:8)

Being saved means a lot of things but here are a few to get you on your knees thanking God –

  • God’s wrath has been removed:

The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who refuses to believe in the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him. (Jn 3:36)

  • You have passed from death to life and are not under judgment:

19 Then Jesus replied … 24 “I assure you: Anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.” (Jn 5:19, 24)

And you were dead in your trespasses and sins … But God … made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. (Eph 2:1-5)

  • You were rescued from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of Light:

13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Col 1:13-14)

And the one who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46 I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me would not remain in darkness. (Jn 12:46)

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; (1 Pe 2:9)

for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord … (Eph 5:8)

to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me. (Acts 26:18)

Take time to ponder your salvation and what it means. Appreciate God and what He has done for you. Remember, your salvation came from God. He saved you and it had nothing to do with yourself. Let me give you an illustration of your salvation. If you were drowning in the ocean and you were somehow able to swim to safety, you would have saved yourself from drowning. But if you were drowning and the only way not to die was a lifeguard rescuing you, you would say the lifeguard saved you because you couldn’t save yourself. The point is, if you are saved, it has nothing to do with you saving yourself. If you rescued yourself, you were not saved by another since you saved yourself. In that case there is nobody to thank but yourself. Now, as believers in Jesus Christ you are saved by Him! So, ponder your salvation … how He graciously saved you and rescued you from the dominion of Satan and darkness and brought you into His glorious kingdom.

Appreciate God for how He’s saved you. You didn’t deserve it, but He saved you anyway out of His mercy, 100% mercy.

Think about it

What does being saved mean to you?

What about being saved makes you most excited?
