God has dealt with your sin in just about every way you can imagine. Your spirit has been made pure by God; it is sin free. But your body has not been glorified yet and still has sin on it. That’s why when your body dies, the real you which is your spirit inside the body, will go to be with God because it is sin free even though your sinful body will stay behind. Look at all the ways God has dealt with your sin.
- The penalty for sin has been removed:
He made you alive with Him and forgave us all our trespasses. 14 He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the cross. (Col 2:13-14)
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law … (Gal 3:13)
He took away your debt obligation and put it on Himself. You have no debt to pay because He erased it. The charges against you are dropped for breaking the Law.
- Your sin is cleansed:
“Come, let us discuss this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are as red as crimson, they will be like wool. (Isa 1:18)
- Your sin is forgiven:
We have redemption in Him through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses … (Eph 1:7)
We have redemption, the forgiveness of sins, in Him. (Col 1:14)
- Your sin is removed:
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. (Ps 103:12)
He will again have compassion on us; He will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. (Mic 7:19)
He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree … (1 Pe 2:24)
- Your sins are on the ocean floor:
He will again have compassion on us; He will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. (Mic 7:19)
- He doesn’t look at your sin:
Indeed, it was for my own welfare that I had such great bitterness; but Your love has delivered me from the Pit of destruction, for You have thrown all my sins behind Your back. (Isa 38:17)
- He’s forgotten your sin:
Indeed, it was for my own welfare that I had such great bitterness; but Your love has delivered me from the Pit of destruction, for You have thrown all my sins behind Your back. (Isa 38:17)
14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are sanctified. 15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. For after He says … I will never again remember their sins and their lawless acts. (Heb 10:14-17)
It is I who sweep away your transgressions for My own sake and remember your sins no more. (Isa 43:25)
Think about it
Name as many ways as you can that God has dealt with your sin.
God removed the debt you owed for sinning, He forgave your sin, removed your sin, forgot your sin, put your sin behind His back to not look at them anymore, and cleansed your sin.
Do you think God only did that for the sins you committed in the past or for all your sin (even the future ones)? To help answer that, consider this verse:
3 Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens. 4 For He chose us in Him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in His sight. (Eph 1:3-4)
What are your thoughts about what God did with your sin? How does it make you feel?
God was very thorough in dealing with your sin. You are free of it. Rejoice. Think about what He has done. Appreciate what God has done for you!!
