With your sin removed from you, God went a step further and purified you like how we see purification in the Old Testament.
5 He said to them, “Hear me, Levites. Consecrate yourselves now and consecrate the temple of Yahweh, the God of your ancestors … 16 The priests went to the entrance of the Lord’s temple to cleanse it. They took all the unclean things they found in the Lord’s sanctuary to the courtyard of the Lord’s temple. Then the Levites received them and took them outside to the Kidron Valley. 17 They began the consecration on the first day of the first month, and on the eighth day of the month they came to the portico of the Lord’s temple. They consecrated the Lord’s temple for eight days, and on the sixteenth day of the first month they finished. (2 Chr 29:5-17)
The idols and pagan things from king Ahab’s reign were removed from the Temple by the Levites and then they purified the Temple for 16 days.
God removed your sin from you and then went another step and purified you:
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 Jn 1:9)
4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:4-7)
24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy (Jude 1:24)
He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people for His own possession, eager to do good works. (Ti 2:14)
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of His nature, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. (Heb 1:3)
Your sins have been removed and you have been purified. You are clean!
Think about your salvation deeply and what it means – your sins are gone and you are purified. Thank the Lord with deep appreciation for what He’s done for you! Rejoice. Praise Him.
How joyful are those whose lawless acts are forgiven and whose sins are covered! 8 How joyful is the man the Lord will never charge with sin! (Rom 4:7-8)
Think about it
God removed your sin and has purified you.
Why do you think Scripture says you were purified and cleansed?
If you remove a clump of wet mud off your pants, does it leave behind a mud stain? How does this image help you understand the need for being purified?
How does it make you feel that God removed your sin, the thing that made you unclean, and purified you too?
