The word ‘believe’ in John teaches a lot of spiritual truths about the blessings of believers. Let’s look.

Slowly read through the statements and verses so you can appreciate them and praise God for what He’s done for you. Keep in mind these are the truths from God about you, your relationship with Him, and your future.

  • You became a child of God (Jn 1:12)

But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name … (Jn 1:12)

  • You are not condemned (Jn 3:18) and God’s wrath has been removed from you (Jn 3:36)

Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned … (Jn 3:18)

The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who refuses to believe in the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him. (Jn 3:36)

  • You are not under judgment and have passed from death to life (Jn 5:24)

“I assure you: Anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.” (Jn 5:24)

But these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and by believing you may have life in His name. (Jn 20:31)

  • You have eternal life (Jn 3:15-16; 3:36; 5:24; 6:40; 6:47)

15 so that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life. 16 “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” (Jn 3:15-16)

I assure you: Anyone who believes has eternal life. (Jn 6:47)

  • You will never be cast away from God and will be resurrected (Jn 6:37-40)

37 Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 This is the will of Him who sent Me: that I should lose none of those He has given Me but should raise them up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of My Father: that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” (Jn 6:37-40)

  • You will not die in sin (Jn 8:24) and will live forever (Jn 11:26)

Therefore I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins. (Jn 8:24)

Everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die—ever. (Jn 11:26)

  • You are blessed for believing even though you do not see (Jn 20:29)

Jesus said, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed. Those who believe without seeing are blessed.” (Jn 20:29)

  • You have His Word living in you (Jn 5:38)

You don’t have His word living in you, because you don’t believe the One He sent. (Jn 5:38)

  • You will never be hungry or thirsty spiritually (Jn 6:35; Jn 7:38-39)

“No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again.” (Jn 6:35)

38 “The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.” 39 He said this about the Spirit. Those who believed in Jesus were going to receive the Spirit, for the Spirit had not yet been receivedbecause Jesus had not yet been glorified. (Jn 7:38-39)

  • You are not in darkness (Jn 12:46)

And the one who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46 I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me would not remain in darkness. (Jn 12:46)

  • You will do the works that Jesus did and even more (Jn 14:12)

I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. (Jn 14:12)

  • You now believe in the Father (Jn 12:44) and are loved by Him (Jn 16:27)

The one who believes in Me believes not in Me, but in Him who sent Me. (Jn 12:44)

For the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came from God. (Jn 16:27)

  • You will see the glory of God (Jn 11:40)

Didn’t I tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God? (Jn 11:40)

Think about it

What points really touched you?

Take time out now to meditate on what God’s done for you.

Praise and thank Him now.

Think about these things often.
