The epistles contain plenty of Theology for you to know more about God and salvation. Take a look.
About Jesus:
Jesus is the Son of God (1 Jn 1:3); Jesus is God (1 Jn 5:20); Jesus is righteous (1 Jn 2:1, 29; 1 Jn 3:5, 7); His blood, the water, and the Spirit testify about His identity (1 Jn 5:6); Jesus destroys the work of the devil (1 Jn 3:8); and Jesus will appear again (1 Jn 2:28; 3:2).
About God and salvation:
God is love (1 Jn 4:8, 16b); God is loving (1 Jn 2:15); God loved you before you loved Him (1 Jn 4:19); God sent His Son Jesus to be the world’s Savior (1 Jn 4:14); God sent His Son Jesus out of love so you can live through Him (1 Jn 4:9-10); you can’t be accepted by God if you deny His Son Jesus (1 Jn 2:22-23); God makes you His child if you are a believer in Jesus as Savior (1 Jn 5:1; 3:1-3); God gives His Spirit to His children, you are anointed by Him (1 Jn 3:23-24; 2:20); God remains in people who are believers in Christ (confess that He is the Son of God) (1 Jn 4:15); if you don’t believe in Jesus you make God out to be a liar since He testified about Him (1 Jn 5:10); God gives believers eternal life through Jesus (1 Jn 5:11-12); God knows all things and your heart (1 Jn 3:20); God has commands for you to obey (1 Jn 3:23-24); and God answers prayers (1 Jn 5:14-15).
God is light and there is no darkness in Him (1 Jn 1:6); God is in the light (1 Jn 1:7); and love is from God (1 Jn 4:7).
About Jesus’ work and you:
Jesus laid down His life for you (1 Jn 3:16); Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for the believers sin (1 Jn 2:2; 4:10); Jesus’ blood cleanses of sin (1 Jn 1:7); Jesus takes sin away (1 Jn 3:5); Jesus forgives and cleanses your sin when you confess (1 Jn 1:9); Jesus is an advocate for you to the Father (1 Jn 2:1); Jesus gives you understanding to know Him and the Father (1 Jn 5:20); and you have fellowship with the Father and Jesus (1 Jn 1:3).
Think about it
Did you learn anything new?
Do you understand that people who reject Jesus are not accepted by God the Father (1 Jn 2:22-23)? What does that tell you about salvation? Is there a chance the Father will accept and save people who reject His Son who died for them?
What do you think it means that God remains in believers and believers remain in Him (1 Jn 4:15)? How do you think that relates to you not being able to lose your salvation?
How do you think Jesus destroys the works of the devil (1 Jn 3:8)?
Do you believe Jesus is coming back (1 Jn 2:28; 3:22)? Are you ready and anxious to meet Him?
