8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings; they were covered with eyes around and inside. Day and night they never stop, saying: Holy, holy, holy,Lord God, the Almighty, who was, who is, and who is coming. (Rev 4:8. See also Lev 11:44; Psa 99:9; Isa 45:5-19)
There is no one holy like the Lord. (1 Sam 2:2)
… Who is like You, glorious in holiness … (Ex 15:11)
Exalt the Lord our God; bow in worship at His holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy. (Ps 99:9)
God is holy!
God being holy means two things. First, God’s holiness means He is morally pure and perfection. He is free from sin and all wrongdoing. Second, God’s holiness means He is completely separated out from and distinct from His creation. He is entirely unique and beyond human understanding.
So, when God tells us to be holy because He is holy, He is telling us to be sin free AND entirely separated out from the world.
What does His perfect holiness and purity mean regarding you being sinful? Can you be with Him in a sinful state?
What does His holiness mean in reference to your worship (See Ps 99:9 above)? Does His holiness make Him worthy of worship?
How else does God’s holiness impact your life? Does His holiness make you understand better how Jesus was able to pay the debt for your sin as the Lamb of God?
