People are born sinners. In the flesh we are proud, puffed up, selfish, self-centered, lovers of self but we need to change our thinking:

Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. (Php 2:3-4)

You need to think of others as more important than yourself. Don’t just think about yourself and your needs but those of others.

Let me show you why this mind shift is so important by showing you the opposite thinking. When you think of yourself as more important than others, you are less likely to help them, serve them, and be more selfish around them since you think you’re better than them. You might not even consider their needs and even if you do, you will not think of them as important as yours.

Change your thinking about others. Think of them as more important than you and consider their needs. This will make you less likely to be selfish, less likely to look down on them, and more likely to help and serve them.

Think about it

Do you think of others as better than you or vice versa? How does that show in your life?

Do you see the reason you should think of others as more important than yourself?

Do you think of the needs of others or your own more?

Do you see that you need to change your thinking in these areas? If so, memorize these verses and make them a foundational part of your thoughts and life.

Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. (Php 2:3)
